Jack Waggoner has traveled Asia for 50 years and has a keen insight into Asian life and customs. During the 1950's he sailed the Pacific on the aircraft carrier "Philippine Sea CVA-47" and was at ground zero just nine years after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, which made a life long impression on him. His first book, "Flight to Puska" was a novel about Stalin's attempts to become the first player in the nuclear club. Jack was the founder of Orient Pacific Corporation and marketed American tire and rubber machinery all over Asia from his base in Hawaii. He earned the President's "E" Award from the Department of Commerce and served two terms on the President's Export Expansion Council.
General Half-Ear, one of the stories leading characters, was a real life friend of Jacks that bought the American machinery Jack sold to the Taiwan Army. The general lost the top half of one ear during the Nationalist retreat from mainland China to Taiwan and became a part of Taiwan history. He loved putting on elegant Chinese dinners, for his western friends, as described in the work. Jack's exciting life prepared him well for writing "Bird Nest".
Now retired, Jack travels the world with his special lady. When not traveling, building boats or writing he spends time hunting and deep sea fishing. The boat is a circa 1950 Chris Craft built from scratch by Jack. Once a sailor, always a sailor.
